about sandra
I’m a mom of 8 children, 5 through adoption—one kinship and four international. My youngest 2 are teens diagnosed with a Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). With over 30 years of parenting experience and 20-plus years as an adoptive parent, I’ve made mountains of mistakes and learned loads of lessons. I understand the difficult road of parenting children with trauma histories—and I’m still in the trenches!
After adopting our youngest son in 2010, my heart became burdened for orphans and foster children. In 2011, I co-founded Justice For Orphans—a nonprofit ministry dedicated to rallying the Church for the cause of orphans and foster children.
Ten years ago I began hosting Orphans No More, a weekly program on local Christian radio. When the station switched to an all-music format in 2018, we moved the show to a podcast platform. Today, my weekly episodes of the Adoption & Foster Care Journey podcast continue to encourage, educate, and equip foster and adoptive parents through guest interviews and inspirational content.
I’m passionate about encouraging and equipping foster and adoptive moms through my podcast, writings, speaking engagements, and teaching opportunities.
Today, I am a certified facilitator of the FASCETS neuro-behavioral model and lead online and in-person FASD workshops. I also co-lead the Hope for the FASD Journey virtual support community with Natalie Vecchione of the FASD Hope podcast.
My first book, Orphans No More—A Journey Back to the Father is a memoir of my family’s story and my understanding of spiritual adoption through the lens of an adoptive parent.
I’m married for more than 30 years to the most loving and patient man, Wayne. Home is a cozy cabin in upstate New York where we raised all eight of our kids. We’re still parenting our teenage sons and soaking up snuggles with our grandchildren who live nearby.
Thank you for stopping by my website. My prayer is this will be a rest stop where you will be encouraged and equipped for the journey God has called you on.
Thank you,
Sandra
Justice For Orphans is a non-profit organization whose mission is to rally the Church to serve children and families in crisis. We INSPIRE, EDUCATE and EQUIP the Body of Christ toward adoption, foster care, family preservation, global orphan care, and church orphan ministry. We know that not everyone is called to adopt or foster children, but we are all called to care according to James 1:27. Every one of us can do something.
Speaking
My heart is to speak, podcast, write, blog, teach, and do all God calls me to do for His glory. I especially have a heart for adoptive and foster moms on the difficult journey of caring for children with trauma histories and prenatal exposure to alcohol. My expertise on FASD and trauma make me a sought after speaker on these topics. I’m available for podcast interviews, conferences, women’s retreats, and other events where I can inspire, encourage and equip women to walk in their calling too.
