about sandra

I’m a mom of eight—five through adoption, including kinship and international adoption. With over 30 years of parenting experience and more than 20 years as an adoptive mom, I’ve made plenty of mistakes and learned even more lessons. I understand the realities of parenting children with trauma and brain-based differences—because I’m still living it every day.
After adopting my youngest son in 2010, my heart was awakened to the needs of children in foster care and orphan care—and the families who love them. In response, I co-founded Justice For Orphans in 2011, a nonprofit ministry dedicated to mobilizing the Church to care for vulnerable children and support foster and adoptive families.
Today, I serve as a nonprofit leader, author, speaker, and trauma-informed educator with more than a decade of experience equipping caregivers. My work is especially focused on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) and other brain-based differences, where I help families move from frustration to understanding through practical, strength-based strategies. As a certified facilitator of the FASCETS Neurobehavioral Approach, I train caregivers, churches, and professionals to better understand the connection between brain function and behavior, offering tools that bring hope, compassion, and real-life change.
I'm also the host of The Adoption & Foster Care Journey Podcast, a weekly show designed to encourage, educate, and equip foster and adoptive parents through honest conversations, expert interviews, and practical teaching. Before launching the podcast, I hosted Orphans No More on Christian radio, building a platform for awareness and advocacy that continues to grow today.
As a speaker and trainer, I have the privilege of partnering with organizations such as Christian Alliance for Orphans, Replanted Conference, and Foster the Family, speaking at conferences, retreats, and events across the country. I also co-lead the Hope for the FASD Journey virtual support community, where I provide ongoing encouragement and guidance to families navigating the complexities of caregiving.
I'm the author of Orphans No More: A Journey Back to the Father and Soul Care Saturday: 52 Devotions for Foster & Adoptive Moms. Whether I'm writing, speaking, or teaching, my desire is to blend professional training with lived experience, offering encouragement that is both deeply informed and deeply personal.
My husband, Wayne, and I have been married for more than 30 years and have raised eight children, five through adoption. We're still parenting our youngest sons while enjoying our growing number of grandchildren. We make our home in a cozy cabin in upstate New York, where life is full, faith-filled, and rooted in family.
More than anything, my passion is to walk alongside parents and caregivers in the trenches, offering hope, practical tools, and the reminder that they are not alone on this journey.
Thank you,
Sandra

Justice For Orphans is a non-profit organization whose mission is to rally the Church to serve children and families in crisis. We INSPIRE, EDUCATE and EQUIP the Body of Christ toward adoption, foster care, family preservation, global orphan care, and church orphan ministry. We know that not everyone is called to adopt or foster children, but we are all called to care according to James 1:27. Every one of us can do something.

Speaking
My heart is to speak, podcast, write, blog, teach, and do all God calls me to do for His glory. I especially have a heart for adoptive and foster moms on the difficult journey of caring for children with trauma histories and prenatal exposure to alcohol. My expertise on FASD and trauma make me a sought after speaker on these topics. I’m available for podcast interviews, conferences, women’s retreats, and other events where I can inspire, encourage and equip women to walk in their calling too.
